Publication and patent behavior of academic researchers: Conflicting, reinforcing or merely co-existing? 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Increasing entrepreneurial activity within academia has raised concerns that the number of publications added to the scientific commons might be reduced or that academic research would be directed exclusively towards the application-oriented needs of industry. In the case of academic inventions, the potential conflict between public- and private-oriented considerations seems most salient. In this contribution, we examine whether the publication behavior of academic inventors (at K.U. Leuven) differs from their colleagues (non-inventors) working within similar fields of research. Our analysis reveals that inventors publish significantly more. Moreover, no empirical evidence was found for the ‘skewing problem’. These findings not only suggest the co-existence of both activities; they may actually reinforce each other. 相似文献

南宋时期,在闽台保生大帝祖宫记忆的原初形态中,漳州龙溪县青礁慈济东宫与泉州同安县白礁慈济西宫创建于同一年,两宫均为该信仰的祖宫。宋以后,在地域认同意识的支配下,白礁慈济西宫为保生大帝信仰绝对祖宫的观点被虚构出来并在信徒中得到不断地重温与强调,虚构的内容变成了普遍的社会影响,信徒群体中逐渐形成了新的"祖宫"记忆:白礁慈济西宫的建庙年代提前了一年,成为该信仰的绝对祖宫,青礁慈济东宫则逐渐被排挤出祖宫的圈子。 相似文献

Metacognition, achievement goals, study strategies and academic achievement: pathways to achievement 总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
The purpose of this research was to develop and test a model of effective self-regulated learning. Based on effort expenditure
we discerned effective self-regulators and less effective self-regulators. The model comprised achievement goals (mastery,
performance-approach and -avoidance goals), metacognition (metacognitive knowledge, regulation and experience), study strategies
(metacognitive, deep cognitive, surface cognitive and resource management strategies) and academic achievement. The relationships
in the model were tested with controlling for intellectual ability, gender and age. The results showed that effective self-regulated
learning involved two pathways: a metacognitive and a strategy pathway. The first pathway involved a positive relationship
of mastery goals and a negative relationship of performance-avoidance goals with metacognition. Metacognition positively affected
the use of the four study strategies. The strategy pathway involved positive effects of mastery and performance-approach goals
on the use of metacognitive and deep cognitive strategies. Further, performance-approach goals positively affected the use
of surface cognitive and resource management strategies. The use of metacognitive and resource management strategies had a
positive and the use of surface cognitive strategies had a negative effect on exam scores. 相似文献

Academic developers are important interpreters of policy, yet little research has focussed on the interplay of policy and academic development practice. Using methods from critical discourse analysis, this article analyses a national learning and teaching policy, charts its development, and explores its interpretation by the academic development community. The findings suggest that while developers played a strategic role in the policy’s development nationally, their influence on and use of policy institutionally was more limited. The article calls on developers to take a more overt leadership role in an area of higher education practice where they clearly have (often unharnessed) expertise. 相似文献
